INTERNATIONAL THESPIAN SOCIETY
CHS TROUPE #2204

Picture
ABOUT I.T.S.
The International Thespian Society, founded in 1929, is an honorary organization for high school and middle school theatre students located at schools across America, Canada, and abroad. The mission of I.T.S. is to honor student achievement in the theatre arts.  I.T.S. is a division of the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA).   EdTA publishes Dramatics, a bi-monthly magazine for high school theatre students, and Teaching Theatre, a journal for theatre education professionals.

BY THE NUMBERS:
  • 2.2 million thespian members inducted
  • 100,000+ active (current) thespians
  • 4,500+ affiliated schools
  • 100,000+ members of EdTA
  • 4 million pounds of food donated to local food banks through "Trick-or-Treat So Kids Can Eat"
MOTTO:
Act well your part; there all the honor lies.
-Alexander Pope

COLORS:
Blue and Gold

PLEDGE:
I promise to uphold the aims and ideals of the International Thespian Society. I am a student of theatre and excellence is my ideal. I promise to perform my part as well as I can; to accept praise and criticism with grace; to cooperate with my fellow Thespians and work for the good of the troupe; and to share my love of theatre.

Thespian alumni may remain connected to I.T.S. by filling out the form here.

ABOUT TROUPE #2204
Troupe #2204 was chartered at Washington Township High School on May 19, 1961, and was reinstated on August 17, 1990.  Since then, the troupe has been active in I.T.S. by attending and performing at conferences and International Thespian Festivals, sending Individual Events representatives, participating in "TOTS Eat," and earning honor troupe status.

MEMBERSHIP IN TROUPE #2204
Students who show continued dedication to the theatre arts are eligible for membership in the C.H.S. troupe of The International Thespian Society.

Membership is decided based on the I.T.S. point system, which recognizes students' participation both onstage and off.  Membership invitations are delivered after the season closes, and new members are inducted at the C.H.S. Theatre Banquet in May.

Members gain leadership opportunities by serving in various production roles or mentoring younger students, and they may further develop their skills and appreciation for theatre by participating in troupe, area, state, and international conferences and performances. Members may challenge themselves by preparing Individual Events (which are judged at State Conference), and scholarships are available at the local, state, and international national level.

This is truly an honor, and C.H.S. is proud to recognize the troupe’s commitment to theatre.

THESPIAN CONFERENCES
For CHS students who are interested in any aspect of theatre, we attend several Thespian events each year:
  • OhEdTA Southwest Area Conference
  • OhEdTA State Thespian Conference
  • The Educational Theatre Association's International Thespian Festival.
