The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) is a national, nonprofit organization with approximately 90,000 student and professional members. EdTA’s mission is shaping lives through theatre education by: honoring student achievement in theatre and enriching their theatre education experience; supporting teachers by providing professional development, networking opportunities, resources, and recognition; and influencing public opinion that theatre education is essential and builds life skills.
EdTA operates the International Thespian Society (ITS), an honorary organization that has inducted more than two million theatre students since its founding in 1929. Through its involvement in the International Thespian Society, Centerville High School Theatre has been recognized by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) and by the Ohio Chapter of EdTA (OhEdTA) for its work at both the international festival and state conference. |
The Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards (MVHSTA) and Awards Showcase are designed to celebrate, support, and advocate for high school theatre education throughout the Miami Valley region. In 2009, along with nine other schools, Centerville High School took part in the inaugural year of the High School Dayton-area Theatre Awards. The High School DayTony Awards were presented to recognize outstanding performance, whether on stage or behind the scenes, at Dayton-area high school theatres. In 2019, the High School DayTony Awards evolved into the Miami Valley High School Theatre Awards under the umbrella of Dayton Live. Congratulations to the students and adults at Centerville High School who received DayTony Awards over its decade of celebrating high school theatre! |
